IMAM FAISAL KHAN

Founder & Executive Director

Imam Faisal Khan was born and raised in New York City. Having been awarded the New York Times Scholarship, the Seinfeld Scholarship and Columbia University’s I.I. Rabi Scholarship, he graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. He embarked upon his formal Islamic studies under various scholars studying Qur’ān, Qur’ānic Exegesis (Tafsīr), Prophetic Traditions (Ḥadīth), Creed (‘Aqīdah), Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh), Principles of Jurisprudence (Uṣūl ul-Fiqh) and Arabic Linguistics. He furthered his Islamic studies in Cairo and Alexandria (Egypt) studying Qur’ānic Elocution (Tajwīd) and Arabic Rhetoric (Balāghah). During his stay in Egypt, he had the opportunity to benefit from many scholars of Al-Azhar University.

 

At Quba Institute NY, he is an instructor of Tafsīr, Prophetic Biography (Sīrah), and Arabic Grammar (Naḥw).

SHAYKHA (ALIMAH) MARYAM

Director

Shaykha (Alimah) Maryam was born and raised in the United Kingdom. She has been active in the field of teaching, both the Islamic sciences and National Curriculum (equivalent to the U.S. Common Core), for over 15 years. She has taught Jalālayn (tafsīr), Mishkāt (ḥadīth), Hidāyah (fiqh) and Uṣūl ul-Fiqh for several years. In the field of Da’wah, she has delivered lectures throughout the U.K. and abroad. Shaykha Maryam began her formal Islamic studies in England under traditional scholars studying Qur’ān, Tafsīr, Ḥadīth, ‘Aqīdah, Fiqh and Arabic Linguistics. After six years of continuous study, she graduated with a Master’s Degree receiving authorization (ijāzah) in Islamic Theology and Jurisprudence. After graduation, she specialized in ‘Aqīdah with ijāzah and studied books of advanced Fiqh (Ifta’) for two years. She furthered her studies in Morocco and Spain studying the Islamic sciences of spirituality and purification. After her Islamic studies, she completed a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in English Language and Literature. She is a qualified Modern Foreign Language teacher in English.

 

She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Education (Leadership and Management). At Quba Institute NY, she is an instructor of Tafsīr, Sīrah and Naḥw.

SHAYKH ADNAN UDDIN

Shaykh Adnan Uddin was born in Bangladesh and raised in the United States. At the tender age of eleven, his pursuit of Islamic knowledge began with the memorization of the Noble Qur’ān. After memorizing the Qur’ān, he enrolled in a rigorous seven-year Islamic studies course covering Qur’ān, Tafsīr, Ḥadīth, Fiqh and Arabic Linguistics under the guidance of traditional scholars. At the culmination of his studies, he received authorization (ijāzah) in Islamic Jurisprudence and Ḥadīth. He furthered his studies under various qurrā (Qur’ān reciters) earning ijāzah in Qirā’at (seven modes of Qur’ānic recitation). 

MUFTI AMINUL-ISLAM

 

At the tender age of twelve, Mufti Aminul-Islam completed the memorization of the Noble Qur’ān in Brooklyn, New York along with his academic studies. He then traveled to South Africa to begin his formal Islamic studies acquiring an in-depth knowledge, understanding and proficiency in Qur’ān, Tafsīr, Ḥadīth, Fiqh and Arabic Linguistics under the guidance of traditional scholars. At the culmination of his studies, he received ijāzah in Islamic Jurisprudence and Ḥadīth. After graduation, he specialized in the science of issuing legal religious verdicts (Iftā') studying advanced classical texts of Fiqh and Iftā'. He then furthered his studies in Qur’ānic recitation earning ijāzah in all ten Qirā’at. 

SHAYKHA (ALIMAH) SAIMA

Shaykha (Alimah) Saima was born in Pakistan and raised in the United States. After completing her primary education in the U.S., she traveled to the United Kingdom to begin her formal Islamic studies. For six continuous years, she studied the Islamic sciences and gained a profound in-depth knowledge in numerous fields such as Qur’ān, Tafsīr, Ḥadīth, Fiqh and Arabic Linguistics. She graduated with a Master’s in Islamic Theology. Alongside her Islamic education, she completed her secondary education. 

SHAYKHA (ALIMAH) SHUMSUN

Shaykha (Alimah) Shumsun was born and raised in New York City. After completing her primary education in Queens, she traveled to the United Kingdom to begin her formal Islamic studies. After memorizing the Noble Qur’ān, she enrolled in a rigorous seven-year Islamic studies course covering Qur’ān, Tafsīr, Ḥadīth, Fiqh and Arabic Linguistics. At the culmination of her studies, she received a Master’s in Islamic Theology. In addition to her Islamic education, she completed her secondary education.

SHAYKHA (ALIMAH) TAYABA

Shaykha (Alimah) Tayaba was born in Pakistan and raised in the United States. After completing her primary education in the U.S., she traveled to Bangladesh to begin her formal Islamic studies enrolling in a four-year course. Upon completion, she furthered her Islamic studies in the United Kingdom acquiring an in-depth knowledge, understanding and proficiency in Qur’ān, Tafsīr, Ḥadīth, Fiqh and Arabic Linguistics. She graduated with a Master’s in Islamic Theology.
